IUI
Intrauterine insemination, also known as IUI, is a procedure that involves placing sperm inside the uterus. IUI is less invasive than IVF and is considered a first-line treatment for same-sex couples who do not have sperm available. Take a look at Jessie and Ruba’s story to learn about the different steps involved in the IUI process.
Jessie and Ruba

1. After being referred to us by their primary care physician, Jessie and Ruba meet with a Procrea Fertility specialist for an initial consultation.
2. They decide that Ruba will undergo IUI and explore sperm donation options.
3. After choosing a sperm donor, the IUI cycle begins.
4. Blood tests and an ultrasound confirm Jessie and Ruba's pregnancy.
5. Ruba is then referred to a specialist of her choice (family doctor, midwife or obstetrician)
IVF
In traditional IVF, the same person provides the eggs and carries the pregnancy. Read Mei and René's story to learn how this journey unfolds.
Mei and René

1. After being referred to us by their referring physician, Mei and René meet a Procrea Fertility specialist for an initial consultation.
2. They decide to use Mei's eggs and resort to in vitro fertilization (IVF). They then explore the possibilities of sperm donation.
3. After choosing the sperm donor, the IVF cycle begins. An embryo is placed in Mei's uterus.
4. Blood tests and an ultrasound confirm Mei and Rene's pregnancy.
5. Mei is referred to a specialist of her choice (family doctor, midwife or obstetrician).
