Discover your options

The journey to parenthood typically begins with a fertility assessment. What follows is a series of important decisions: who will donate eggs, who will carry the child, who will donate sperm, and how will you conceive? Learn about your options.

IUI

Intrauterine insemination, also known as IUI, is a procedure that involves placing sperm inside the uterus. IUI is less invasive than IVF and is considered a first-line treatment for same-sex couples who do not have sperm available. Take a look at Jessie and Ruba’s story to learn about the different steps involved in the IUI process.

2. They decide that Ruba will undergo IUI and explore sperm donation options.

3. After choosing a sperm donor, the IUI cycle begins.

4. Blood tests and an ultrasound confirm Jessie and Ruba's pregnancy.

5. Ruba is then referred to a specialist of her choice (family doctor, midwife or obstetrician)

IVF

In traditional IVF, the same person provides the eggs and carries the pregnancy. Read Mei and René's story to learn how this journey unfolds.
